The Benefits Of The All Inclusive Ski Vacation

For many, nothing beats the joy of hitting the slopes; putting on boots, skis, and goggles before facing the mountain at hand. Skiing, even when done with friends and family, is still a solitary sport which is, in part, the reason for its vast popularity. The serenity that comes from being outside – in beautiful environs – and putting your physical prowess and sporting skills to the test, is unparalleled. It’s no wonder that, for ski enthusiasts, a vacation means a ski vacation. And one of the best ways to enjoy all that this getaway has to offer is by embarking on an all inclusive ski vacation.
The all inclusive vacation has continued to maintain popularity throughout the years, as travelers enjoy the convenient one-price-for-everything system. It allows them to pay for every part of their vacation up front – including accommodations, meals, activities, even gratuities – and not have to worry about having cash on hand during their time away. The all inclusive ski vacation offers the ultimate relaxation to travelers, allowing them to let go of the details and just enjoy themselves.
Typically, an all inclusive ski vacation will bundle the price of travel, transfer to hotel, accommodations, meals, and ski passes. The variety of meals, level of accommodations, and any restrictions of skiing depend solely on the particular resort in which you are interested. You can work online or with a travel agent to determine those options that are most important to you and cross-reference them to resorts that offer the same. For example, if you would rather have the ability to ski all day – with no restrictions – and have that included in your upfront price, then your travel agent can easily educate you on those resorts that offer an all inclusive ski vacation that best meets your needs. Additionally, if you are traveling with children, your requirements will be vastly different then if planning an adults-only all inclusive ski vacation.
Either way, you will find that an all inclusive ski vacation offers you substantial savings as compared to purchasing each part of your trip separately. Bundling amenities and services together means a world of difference to your wallet.
Consider all the factors that will make your all inclusive ski vacation your dream getaway. And then get down to doing some research. With some flexibility on travel dates and an adventurous attitude, you will soon be on a vacation you are not soon to forget.

Great Guides to Help You Plan Your Travel Budget

There are literally hundreds of guides on budget travel to be found on the Internet and in bookstores. Some are useful, some are not. It really depends on what you want and where you are going. Many web sites offer email subscriptions and regular updates on where the best deals are. So how do you decide which ones are the most useful? A lot of the sites are confusing, so how do you find the ones that are going to give you the information you need?

Online bookstores have sections on travel guides. Try Amazon or specialty travel book stores like the Globe Corner Bookstores. They have an amazing array of guide books for the traveler on a budget. The most important thing to keep in mind about published guidebooks is that once the information is printed, it is probably out of date. Although most of them are updated annually, you cannot take what is written as set in stone. Internet guides are preferable in this area because their information is updated sometimes on a daily basis so all the deals on offer are available when you see them.

The best guides seem to be the ones that give you specific information on either your choice of destination or the type of holiday you will be taking (family vacation, backpacking, students, seniors, etc). There are the well known guide books/web sites like The Lonely Planet that will give you information on just about every destination you can think of. Or you can contact the embassy of the place you want to visit or go to the library to find out more about your choice of destination.  Most web sites will also have links to travel deals that are from the site sponsors. Some of the deals look great but research them. Compare to other sites to get the best deal for you.

Some guides worth having a look at for the budget traveler are:

* ‘The World’s Cheapest Destinations’ by Tim Leffel

* ‘Europe on $70 a Day’ by Arthur Frommer

*  Any guidebook from the Lonely Planet ‘Shoestring’ series

*  Any guidebook from the ‘Cheap Eats and Sleeps’ series

If you are backpacking, getting a guide on hostels in the area you are traveling to is a good idea. There are many sites dedicated to finding hostels. You will be able to get prices and make bookings in advance.

Once you know where you are traveling you’ll be able to find a guide on just about anything. How to get there, where to sleep, where to eat, what to visit and how to travel around are all going to be available in a travel guide. And once you get to your destination go to the local tourist information stand and look at what other helpful guides are available.

Festivals:

The booking office for the Athens Festival at Herod Atticus Theatre, the theatre on Likavitos Hill and the classical Greek plays in the famous theatre in Epidavros is in the Stoa (Arcade) Spyromiliou at Stadiou No 4 (close to Syntagma Square). It’s open Mon to Sat 8.30 am to 2 pm and 5 pm to 7 pm, Sun 10 am to 1 pm.

The tourist information office in Syntagma Square can also provide a list of all the museums with prices and opening times etc. Don’t forget no entrance fee is charged on Sundays. Cinemas and exhibitions etc. can be found in the Athens News, a daily newspaper .available at most cigarette kiosks. Open air cinemas are inexpensive and good fun.

Mosquitoes & Schneepers:

Forewarned is forearmed against these little monsters. Mozzies you probably know well. Schneepers are smaller and leave a big hot bite that weeps if you scratch it, so do try not to. Mosquitoes are very selective and will ignore a body in one bed and all home in on the poor person in the next.

Locals say if you are bitten it’s because you have sweet blood. Be that as it may the best defense is a little electric machine that comes either with a box of tablets or with a chamber containing liquid. Leave the machine on continuously and just pop in a new tablet, or check the liquid, before you go out at night. This should prove effective even with the windows 9pen.

The most common liquid mosquito repellent is AUTAN in a yellow plastic bottle or in stick form. Splash a few drops around your ankles before you go out at night. This will stop ‘you being annoyed in tavernas or if you are sitting outside. All the above are available in any local grocery shop or chemist. If you are keen on a non-chemical repellent citronella is effective.

If you do get bitten try not to scratch the bites (impossible, I hear you say). When you’re in a taverna ask for vinegar and put some on a paper napkin. If you dab it on the bite it will ease the itching.

Organized Tours:

Organized tours are of a high standard in Greece and efficiently run. They include tours of Athens itself, trips to classical site in the Peloponese and the mountains of Meteora as well as the beautiful islands that lie in the Saronic Gulf. These trips range from one-day outings to three, and four-day trips and include various classical sites.

An advantage of taking an organized tour is that qualified Greek guides are usually charming and well informed and go a long way towards making the trips memorable. Days spent exploring on your own mixed with organized trips can make for a great holiday.

Travel Tips for Your Air Travel India

What revolutionized the scene of airlines in India was the introduction of low cost flights, namely Air Deccan that believed that by not including a business class and not offering meals on board, could help greatly reduce costs of operation, which translated in to bringing lower airfares to customers.Less than 10 years ago, travelling by air in India was meant for only a select few because of the high prices of airfares offered by the airlines in India. In fact, an economy class ticket on a full service airline for travel from Delhi to Mumbai would cost as much as Rs. 20,000 one way, once upon a time. Today, it is a different story altogether with the changing face of the airline industry making travelling by air affordable for most people. What revolutionized the scene of airlines in India was the introduction of low cost flights, namely Air Deccan that believed that by not including a business class and not offering meals on board, could help greatly reduce costs of operation, which translated in to bringing lower airfares to customers. Until Air Deccan launched, cheap flights in India were unheard of. Soon, a long list of airlines in India was born, GoAir, SpiceJet and Indigo to name a few, all making themselves out to be offering low cost flights. Initially the going was good and cheap flights in India was a much awaited reality with airlines offering Rs. 0 airfares. People who normally traveled by train now had the choice to be able to fly. Everyone was happy. However, this great booming success was to be followed by uncertainty.Airlines in India would see many ups and down. Over the past year and more so in recent months, with the price of oil soaring, prices of airfares gradually began to sky-rocket. Like the rest of the world, airlines in India have been forced to cut back on some flying some routes and reducing the frequency of flight to destinations to save costs and avoid going broke completely. In spite of this, some airlines in India have taken a leap of faith and begun international operations; flying long routes like Delhi to New York, Mumbai to San Francisco and Delhi to London. Some of these flights are non-stop and direct and the in-flight services offered are at par with top class international carriers. Let’s hope that cheap flights in India will hopefully return again and a wave of low cost flights should hit the market soon. Now that people are used to a variety of choice of airlines in India, the expectations will obviously only get higher with time.

Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative to Reduce Mexicoâ??s Tourism Revenues by a Scant 2.2 Percent This Year

Elizondo took his calculations from estimates released by the U.S. Department of Commerce and the Office of Homeland Security, which projected that 318,000 American travelers would cancel or fail to book trips to Mexico as a result of the passport requirement.

Given that some 5.3 million of the 21.3 million international tourists visiting Mexico in 2006 were Americans traveling by air, spending an average of US$798 per stay, the resulting US$254 million in lost revenue will amount to only 2.2 percent of the US$11.6 billion in international tourism revenues his country expected to post for the year, he explained.

Mexicoâ??s Tourism Secretary added that the number of Americans who traveled to Mexico by air and did not have passports dropped to merely six percent by January 2007, in part due to an informational campaign launched in October 2006 by the Mexico Tourism Board with the support of tour operators, travel agents and other travel industry representatives.

The initiatives implemented or planned by Mexico to educate consumers about the United Statesâ?? new passport requirement have included news releases, micromedia flashes; information packets; consumer contests and events; and promotional materials, such as passport holders. The MTB also added the slogan â??We want you back in Mexico. Please get a passportâ? to its advertising in an attempt to entice U.S. citizens to obtain their passports.

In addition to the Mexico Tourism Boardâ??s efforts, destinations that receive large numbers of American tourists are also doing their part to educate Americans about the law. The Cancun Convention and Visitors Bureau has launched â??V.I.P., Very Important Passportâ? program encouraging U.S. visitors to spread the word. The campaign will include posters created for high-traffic U.S. vacationer sites that include relevant U.S. passport information and the U.S. Department of State website address. They have also distributed hundreds of thousands of informational coupons about the new passport requirement, some of which are imprinted by local retailers with an individual message of their own, ranging from a discount to special value offer.

â??Our campaign will reach virtually every American visitor vacationing in Cancun for the next three months,â? said Artemio Santos, chief executive officer for the Cancun CVB. â??We are providing tourism businesses like hotels, restaurants, shops, and attractions with the necessary information and tools to reach visitors to Cancun several times during an individual vacationerâ??s stay. This is a destination-wide undertaking,â? said Santos.

Tour operators and travel agents are also strategizing to educate their customers on the new law. Funjet, one of the top U.S. tour operators for Mexico, has created an online program to inform travel agents on the new requirements and how to reach out to their customers proactively regarding passports. The program includes guidelines for organizing â??passport partiesâ? for consumers, designed to facilitate passport processing for people who have traveled to Mexico in the past with other forms of identification. Additionally, Apple Vacations has initiated a promotion for a free passport with the slogan, â??You fly, we buy.â?

The WHTI will not go into effect until 2008 for cruise passengers and 2009 for road travelers. For more information, please visit http://travel.state.gov/passport and www.visitmexico.com.

Your Travel Safety Guide

When you are on vacation, it may mean that you can let your hair down but you also have to keep in mind that this is definitely not a time to let your guard down. Wherever you may be and whatever you may do, it is important that you keep yourself in the safe zone and this is especially critical when you are traveling. Below are a few traveling tips that can help you have peace of mind while enjoying your vacation time.
Make sure to book your hotel or resort way ahead of time. It is best to know all your travel itineraries, destination and lodging details in advance. If it is your first time to travel to that location or you are not familiar with the place, you may want to get detailed descriptions and instructions on how to get there. This is one way of ensuring that you will not get lost midway. Note that the important numbers that you can call in case you miss or lose your way, this is especially true if you are traveling by car. Directions are very, very important and see to it that you have the right map. Also ask about your resort’s security measures beforehand. Choose a hotel that has tight security controls and regulations. Ask about the door locks or about their security personnel. It will make you feel better to know that you are in safe hands during your vacation.
Since you are in a new place, you are more vulnerable to crooks that usually keep an eye on and target unsuspecting tourists. Be very wary of people who may pretend to be hotel personnel. It may very well be a felon in disguise. One thing to remember is to look at their uniforms and IDs. If you are unsure, check with the front desk. Thefts and pickpockets are quite common in hotels and tourist destinations. To fend off the former, you may want to hang around while housekeeping does their job in keeping your room clean. Otherwise, you make sure that your valuables are safely tucked and hidden out of sight; better yet you may want to take them with you. Pickpockets usually work with distractions best. Their moves may include bumping into you, asking for the time, spilling something on you or even tripping in front of you, so be wary.
When traveling, it is advisable that you go with a buddy. This way you have someone to look out for you and vice versa. Most hotels and resorts set up parties for their guests and more often than not, you will have a drink or two. If you should get drunk and wasted, at least you will have someone to carry you back to the hotel room or even watch your back. Drunks are susceptible to theft and date rape. You would not want to be a victim of one or the other. Make sure that your companion is someone you can trust and who can support you when you get wasted. It would defeat the reason if both of you are thrashed and done in.
