Budget Skiing and Vacation Packages

Many ski enthusiasts around the world enjoy an international ski vacation sometime during the winter months.
Most ski resorts are operational between the months of October and April. This gives skiers a minimum of seven full months to plan winter vacations or long weekends.
Some of the most popular ski destinations in the world include the Alps, Aspen and the Pyrenees. These areas all offer skiers and snowboarders the ultimate in fun and adrenaline rushes.
The Alps provide nearly everything a skier could dream of. The mountain range is divided into two primary divisions; the Western Alps and the Eastern Alps.
Some of the most extreme skiing in the world takes place in the Alps. The highest mountain in the Alps, at 15,774 feet, is Mont Blanc. Many resorts in the Alps provide ski areas to fit any difficulty level.
Beginners have nearly as many options as intermediate skiers. More experienced skiers have a much wider array of areas to fit their needs.
Some of the most popular ski areas in the Alps are Kitzbuhel and Seefeld, both in Austria. Zermatt, Grindelwald and St. Moritz are popular destinations in Switzerland, while Chamonix Mont Blanc is the most popular in France.
Skiers are often prepared to pay whatever price is necessary for the quality of enjoyment they can receive at various resorts in the Alps. The upscale prices of some resorts in the Alps can put a damper on the budget traveller’s plans, though.
Often filled with glitz and glamor, Aspen in Colorado is another world-class ski area. It is one of the favorite ski destinations for celebrities from around the world.
Like the Alps, Aspen has a wide range of ski areas to cater to a wide range of abilities. Families enjoy the smaller hills and gentle slopes, while more experienced skiers enjoy high-speed adrenaline rushes.
Some of Aspen’s most famous homeowners include Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith, Kevin Costner, Michael Douglas and Jack Nicholson.
The Pyrenees offer a broader range of costs to fit nearly any international skier’s budget.
Resort areas like Bareges La Mongie, St. Lary Soulan and Andorra offer very affordable ski packages throughout the ski season. Resorts and hotels in the Pyrenees often offer prices as low as $30 per night or $400 per month for extended vacations.
Not only are the prices more reasonable, but the range of difficulty on the slopes is more diverse as well.
Most resorts in the Pyrenees start with slow, easy slopes for beginners to learn and practice.
Instructors are available to assist with any problems the beginning skier may have. Intermediate slopes are often marked and offer a wide array of terrain from steep slopes to small jumps.
More advanced skiers have a broader area to choose from. Many extreme skiers visit the Pyrenees for the sheer adrenaline rush the mountains offer.
With the 2007-2008 ski season at an end, the outdoor enthusiast can still find a wide range of outdoor activities at favourite ski destinations.
Many of the world’s favorite ski destinations turn into favourite summertime vacation destinations during the off-season. Several offer discounted vacation packages during the summer months for the international tourist who enjoys a world-class mountain vacation.

All About Traveling To Italy

When considering a trip to Europe, Italy is often one of the main places of interest. In particular, Rome is a really popular destination and it is packed full of history. So if you are looking to go on an interesting vacation which is packed with plenty of ancient ruins and places of interest then Rome is certainly a place which you should consider.
Why Choose Rome?
In Rome there are approximately 2.7 million people. Its climate is extremely hot and dry within the summer months but incredibly rainy in the winter. If you are thinking of traveling there you will need a passport but if you only intend to stay for around 90 days then you will not need a visa.
If you want to have the best possible vacation in Rome then it would be best not to go during peak times. Off peak times are between October-March and it is generally a lot quieter then and you can enjoy your trip a little bit more than you would in the summer months. It would be a good idea to book a hotel which is situated within the historic district of Rome and the Hotel de Russie is one which should certainly be considered. There you will get to see the Piazza del Popolo and the Spanish Steps too.
Generally it is a lot better to go by foot to most places in Rome. That way you do not miss anything and you will be able to go at your own pace. Due to the fact that there is plenty to see, it would be better if you made a list beforehand of where exactly you want to go. There will usually be a few things which you would really like to see and so if you see them first you will be able to see other things too in your own time. Without a plan of action you could end up missing out on some of the things which you wanted to see and so it is always better to be prepared. It may be a good idea to book a guided tour as these can easily be arranged at the hotel which you are staying in and they will help you to see things you would not necessarily see yourself.
No matter where you decide to go in Rome, there are some places which you should definitely opt to see. These include the Coliseum, the Foro Romano and the Pantheon. The coliseum is by far one of the most popular tourist attractions in the whole of Europe and you can choose to go around it on your own or take a tour with a guide. It is advisable to phone ahead to see what the opening times are during your stay as it does vary throughout the year.
Overall there is plenty to see and do in Rome and it is certainly one of the most popular tourist destinations within Europe.

Avoid Travel Deseases In Mexico

A trip to Mexico is often an exhilarating experience. There are a many different sites that are exclusive to Mexico. Such sights include Mexico’s pristine beaches, various archaeological dig sites, and countless others. One common unfortunate experience while in Mexico, however, is the contraction of Montezuma’s Revenge, also known as Traveler’s Diarrhea. Fortunately, there are four ways to prevent it.
It is important for all travelers to understand and be aware of all potential travel diseases. Montezuma’s Revenge affects nearly fifty percent of all global travelers, who visit third world countries, each year. This disease is caused by an infection in the digestive tract by the e.coli bacteria. Typical symptoms of this disease include increased weight, volume, and frequency of stool, nearly twelve loose stools a day, cramps in the abdomen, nausea, vomiting, bloating, and fever. When serious, this disease can lead to hospitalization. The most effective treatment for this particular disease is only time itself.
The first step to prevent begins with avoiding the water. Drinking the tap water is often times only safe for the citizens of that country because their digestive tracts are already attuned to the bacteria present in the water. It is foolish to think that you have the same digestive strengths as the locals who live there on a regular basis. If drinking the tap water is the only means for water, then you must boil it first for at least ten minutes. Even simple acts as brushing your teeth require the use of completely bacteria free water. Other precautions that travels should take are to avoid salads at restaurants and pre-opened bottles of water for these are easy ways for small amounts of tap water to enter your body.
The only way to completely protect yourself is to do everything yourself. Although cumbersome, this process means that all fruits consumed must be washed with bottled water by you and all restaurant food must be cooked in some form before consumed. It is simply not enough to inquire about the food handling process at each restaurant.
One of the easiest ways to prevent contracting Montezuma’s Revenge is to not eat from any street vendor. Although the temptation of cheap, local food might tempt you to purchase it, this food is probably the most dangerous you can consume. You have no idea how the food was prepared or even if cooked thoroughly. This food must be avoided at all costs.
The final prevention method is to avoid places that serve rewarmed food. Unfortunately, rewarming food doesn’t kill bacteria-in fact, bacteria forms as food cools. Thus any rewarmed food is an almost guarantee for sickness.
Here are a few recapped tips that can help you prevent any holiday illness. When traveling, some safe items are food that is freshly prepared and served hot, meat that is cooked well done, fruits only handled by you, bread and baked goods, hot beverages, bottled water, and canned food or drinks. Avoid tap water, local ice, cold salads, buffets, food by vendors or any rewarmed food.
A trip to Mexico can be very enjoyable and the best way to ensure that is to stay healthy with these simple travel tips.

How to stay healthy on your travels

Keeping an eye on your health and looking after yourself is important when you’re travelling. You don’t want to miss a thing and that means staying on top form; to give you a helping hand here is a little guide to help you stay fit and healthy throughout your travels…

Getting ill anywhere is never fun but getting ill abroad can be scary. Preparation is essential; the first thing you need to do is get your jabs. Everywhere is different so which ones you’ll need depends on where you’re travelling. The best thing to do is speak to your doctor about safety precautions and find out what they recommend.

Possible jabs include:

If you have any medical conditions, it’s better to be cautious. So when you visit your doctor to talk about immunisations, it’s a good idea to ask what else you need to do to prepare. In most cases, with regular medication, you’ll just need a prescription to see you through your travels. In others, you might have to make arrangements to see a doctor while you’re away; the most important thing is to make sure you’ve got everything you need to stay healthy.

Other medical supplies that you might want to take with you include:

Travelling inevitably has an impact on your health. In some cases it’s what’s involved in the travel itself, while in others may be what you do while you’re away. Preparing for any problems you might have while you’re away and doing your research could save you whole lot of hassle.

If you’re travelling for long distances and to different time zones, it can take your body a while to catch up. You might find yourself wide-awake in the middle of the night or sleeping in the middle of the day. To minimise the effects, start adjusting your sleep cycle a couple of days in advance. And once you’ve arrived, make sure you drink plenty of water and avoid caffeinated drinks.

If you suffer from travel sickness, the first thing to do is make sure you’ve got any medication that you take for this. A few tried and tested methods to minimise sickness include; eating a light meal before you travel, looking out of the window instead of at stationary objects and sipping a drink while you travel.

Flying can play havoc with your ears, but if you keep swallowing as the plane takes off and lands, you should be able to minimise discomfort. Ear plugs, and travel sweets can also be helpful. Yawning is good too, but not so easy to do on demand.

Water is generally a big factor here. Try to avoid stomach problems by drinking bottled water, boiling water or purifying it with iodine tablets. If you do come down with something, you’ll need plenty of fluids. Anti diarrhoea and re-hydration tablets should be taken as required, until you get better. Make sure you follow the directions on the label. And if it lasts for more than 3 days, consult a doctor.

Your health is just as important when you travel as it is when you’re at home, so make sure you’re prepared. For more information on what to do if your get ill while abroad, visit the travel health section of the NHS website.

I’m totally passionate about travel, it’s been my life and work for a good few years! My travel adventures haven’t really been about seeing monuments etc but far more about people and getting off the beaten track. Even in a country that has large numbers of tourists you can still find hidden places if you look hard enough, living and working in country gives you such a different perception of it and more of a chance to absorb the local culture. I would like to share my many experiences and offer a little advice if I can to fellow travellers or anyone who is just about to set off on a life changing trip!
